This concept unites movement and light into a dynamic light fixture. To activate the light, two sets of wooden slats are pulled outward. As the slats move apart, the gesture of the fixture changes from a wave of two balanced curves to a singular globe. As the globe forms, the light progressively reaches its full illumination and defines greater and greater space. To turn off the light, the slats are brought back together, and the fixture returns to its original form. In an age where wood is so precious, the light seeks to expand the impact. The expansion, formation and separation engages us in a ritual of illumination and shadow. As the light’s center glows above a dinner conversation we hope to impart notions of balance, transition and harmony.
